Pain or symptoms caused by muscle (myo) or fascia is described as myofascial. Myofascial pain is usually not specific and is often described by the patient as a ‘deep ache’, ‘tightness’ or ‘tenderness’ in an area. It can vary in intensity and radiate to other areas. Other symptoms can include reduced range of motion of muscles and joints, stiffness, fatigue, weakness, numbness or a tingling sensation. • Theraputic Massage
Therapeutic Massage therapy is the manipulation of superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to enhance function, aid in the healing process, and promote relaxation and well-being. At Body Balance Wellness Centre, we use specific techniques to stretch and lengthen connective tissues and muscles, bringing wellness, a sense of relaxation and mobility using the therapeutic massage therapy to our clients. One of the primary goals of Therapeutic Massage is to speed venous blood return from the extremities (arms and legs). Therapeutic Massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissue of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It improves circulation and stretches the ligaments and tendons, keeping them supple and functional. *Prices can be found under Online Bookings

  • Foot Reflexology
Reflexology is a holistic, gentle and effective therapy that is based on the principle that there are reflex points on the hands, feet and ears that correspond to the organs, limbs, muscles and glands in the body. The reflexes are worked using a variety of massage techniques using the thumbs, fingers and knuckles to bring about balance and harmony in all the body systems. The aim of the treatment is to lift and restore the whole body to health by facilitating the body’s own healing ability. Reflexology is profoundly relaxing and can be used by clients of all ages and states of health. It can also be used in conjunction with other medical treatments. It’s like having a tune-up for your whole body! Reflexology works to balance and harmonise all the body systems, so most health conditions can be improved with regular treatments. Musculoskeletal issues, digestive problems (such as IBS), anxiety/depression, respiratory issues such as asthma, hormonal/menstrual issues and stress are just a few conditions that can be improved using reflexology. All clients need remove is shoes and socks/stockings. Typically the feet will be worked, but the hands and ears may be included. Even ticklish people can try it – the pressure is gentle but firm and relaxing. *If you are pregnant, you may still be able to be treated from the second trimester onwards but consult your doctor first. *Prices can be found under Online Bookings
  • Sports Massage
This massage is usually incorporated into pre, during or post competition and is designed to stimulate blood flow, invigorate muscles and energise the body. It is a vigorous treatment, and is focussed on superficial muscles. Deeper, slow work isn’t used in this style, as the practitioner doesn’t want to facilitate too much change in muscle. The aim of sports massage performed previous to an event, is to prepare an athlete for intense activity, not to relax them. A sports massage after competition is very useful to clear out any metabolic waste product that accumulates during exercise and to release tension in the working muscles. The body will then recover sooner and more effectively, and the risk of injury through decreased range of motion cause by muscle stiffness is reduced. *Prices can be found under Online Bookings
